Membership Options

There are three membership options available, Full, Regional, and Associate. See details below.

FULL MEMBERSHIP gives you:

1. Membership of SOC plus bi-monthly copies of the club newsletter SOCK
2. Membership of the South Central Orienteering Association (SCOA)
3. National Membership of the British Orienteering, which includes:
   • Insurance cover for events registered with British Orienteering
   • British Orienteering mailings
   • A vote at the British Orienteering AGM
   • Eligibility to compete in British Championships, JK*, National, Regional and Local events in all regions
   • Discounted entry to JK*, National, Regional and Local events in all regions
   • Discounts for sponsor supported deals

REGIONAL MEMBERSHIP gives you:

1. Membership of SOC plus bi-monthly copies of the club newsletter SOCK
2. Membership of the South Central Orienteering Association (SCOA)
3. Local Membership of the British Orienteering, which includes:
   • Insurance cover for events registered with British Orienteering
   • Selected British Orienteering mailings
   • A vote at the British Orienteering AGM
   • Eligibility to compete in JK*, National, Regional and District events in all regions
   • Discounted entry to Regional and District events in SCOA region

ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP gives you:

1. Membership of SOC plus bi-monthly copies of the club newsletter SOCK
2. Discounted entry fees at some SOC events.

Associate membership is for those who just wish to attend SOC Local or Social events, or for those to whom SOC is a second club.

SOC encourages all members who orienteer regularly to be either Full or Regional members.

FEES

The membership year runs from 1st January to 31st December.

Anyone joining on or after 1st September will be granted membership until the end of the following year, i.e. anyone joining on or after 1st September 2008 will be granted membership until the 31st December 2009.

Membership fees for Full or Regional Membership are made up of three elements, the Club fee, the Association Fee, and the British Orienteering fee.

Notes

1. Family - Spouses / parents / guardians / partners and young persons under 25 on 31st December 2009 and sharing the same permanent address
2. Senior - an individual aged 21 or over in 2009 (i.e. born on or before 31/12/1988)
3. Junior - an individual aged under 21 in 2009 (i.e. born on or after 1/1/1989) or a full-time student (students will be required to produce documentary proof of status)
4. The British Orienteering Local Fee is Free for the first year of membership for newcomers to the sport. A newcomer is defined as someone who has never been a member of any orienteering club or British Orienteering before.

Payment of fees for Full or Regional Membership are made directly to British Orienteering using the British Orienteering Membership Form. Alternatively, join online by clicking here.

Associate Membership

Notes

Family - Spouses / parents / guardians / partners and young persons under 25 on 31st December 2009 and sharing the same permanent address

1. Group - a bona-fide youth group providing activities for young persons aged 18 and under, see SOC Group Membership form for details
2. The group fee for associate membership is waived for schools that are members of the British Schools Orienteering Association (BSOA)

Payment of fees for Associate Membership are made to SOC using the SOC Associate Membership form.
