Has the club considered using social networks such as Twitter and Facebook to promote club activities? Twitter has a few orienteering related posts each day - Graham Gristwood posts the occasional snippet. Facebook has an orienteering page but not so much activity.
I have started posting items about club activities - first one today promoting Summer Series One on Saturday. I doubt if it will have much impact but by taking a consistent approach we could reach a wider audience.
SOC could well benefit from having its own Twitter account and Facebook page. Interested club members could then "follow" the club and receive updates. OK it is very much like receiving the notification emails - but Facebook in particular is a more effective way to reach out to youngsters.
What do others think? Has the committee any view about it? Let me know your thoughts.
Twitter and Facebook
The club has actually had a twitter account for some time although I've done nothing to advertise it as currently it just tweets news items from this site. Paule-Marie is currently in the process of setting up a Facebook page...
